The University of Adelaide welcomes applications from well-qualified candidates for the Adelaide Refugee and Humanitarian Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships in the 2021/22 academic year.

The University of Adelaide was established with a noble objective: to prepare, for South Australia, young leaders formed by education instead of by birth or wealth. The Adelaide Refugee and Humanitarian Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships was created in recognition of the financial difficulties that are encountered by candidates from a refugee background and will assist these candidates to fulfill their ambition of studying at the University of Adelaide.

Worth of Award

  • The Adelaide Refugee and Humanitarian Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships offer the entire tuition fee & Student Services & Amenities Fee (SSAF) for candidates starting postgraduate coursework programs in Semester 1, 2021 who have not formerly had any University study in Australia.
  • Furthermore to the complete tuition fee & Student Services & Amenities Fee, Adelaide Refugee and Humanitarian Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships beneficiary will also obtain a one-time payment of $2,500 in April of the first session of their academic program. The Scholarship award has to be taken up in the year in which it is granted; acceptance of the Scholarship award offer cannot be delayed. If a candidate declines the Scholarship award offer, the Scholarship award will be granted to the next qualified candidate.

Eligibility for Adelaide Refugee and Humanitarian Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships

To be qualified to be given consideration for the Adelaide Refugee and Humanitarian Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships, candidates must:

  • Obtain offer of admission to a postgraduate coursework program of study starting in Semester 1, 2021 (i.e. possess a Letter of Offer, and satisfy any academic and English language proficiency requirements stated in that Letter of Offer); and
  • be bearers of a Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785) or Bridging Visa E (BVE) or or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV); and
  • be able to offer proof of their financial capacity to finance themselves through their program.
  • If needed, candidates will be ranked by academic accomplishment and preference will be afforded to South Australian residents.

How to Apply for Adelaide Refugee and Humanitarian Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships

  • Candidates may only submit applications for this Scholarship award once they have obtained a Letter of Offer from the University of Adelaide, and have satisfied any academic and English language proficiency requirements stated in that Letter of Offer.
  • Candidates who have not satisfied all conditions specified in their Letter of Offer prior to the Scholarship Application deadline will not be given consideration for the Scholarship award.
  • Candidates who are required to undertake an IELTS or other English language test accepted by the University are advised to book into a test at the earliest chance.
