Cardiff University Law Transfer Scholarship in the UK for 2022/2023

The Cardiff University Law Transfer Scholarship is available to qualified students transferring into either year two or year three of our LLB programs. Cardiff University is a public research university in Cardiff, Wales.

The university was founded in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire and became a founding college of the University of Wales in 1893. It was combined with the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology (UWIST) in 1988 as the University of Wales College, Cardiff (University of Wales, Cardiff, from 1996).

In 1997, Cardiff University received degree-awarding powers- but held them in abeyance. It adopted the operating name of Cardiff University in 1999; this became its legal name in 2005- when it became an independent university awarding its own degrees.

Cardiff University is the only Welsh member of the Russell Group of research-intensive British universities. Academics and alumni of the university have included three heads of state or government, two Nobel Prize winners, 15 fellows of the Royal Society, 11 fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering, seven fellows of the British Academy, 21 fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences and 34 fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences.

The university has two Nobel Laureates on its staff, Sir Martin Evans and Robert Huber. However, a number of Cardiff University staff have been elected as Fellows of the Royal Society, these include Graham Hutchings FRS, professor of Physical Chemistry and Director of the Cardiff Catalysis Institute, School of Chemistry, Ole Holger Petersen, MRC Professor and Director of Cardiff School of Biosciences, and John M. Pearce, Professor of Psychology.

In 2013, Cardiff University was rated as one of the best UK universities for supporting LGBT students, by the charity Stonewall in its annual Gay by Degree guide. The University was also one of only two in the UK and the only one in Wales to achieve top marks in a Stonewall checklist of priorities for LGBT+ students.

The university was rated joint 168th in Best Global Universities by US News in 2021. Cardiff University was rated 164th among universities around the world by SCImago Institutions Rankings in 2021. The Round University Rankings rated the university 162nd globally in 2021. The Center for World University Rankings listed Cardiff University 159th in the world in 2021.

The QS World University Rankings rated Cardiff University within the world’s top 50 universities in communication and media studies, and in architecture and the built environment. Other subjects rated within the top 100 are dentistry, mineral and mining engineering, civil and structural engineering, geography, social policy and administration, pharmacy and pharmacology, English language and literature, psychology, and sociology.

Worth of Cardiff University Law Transfer Scholarship

The Cardiff University Law Transfer Scholarship covers £2,000 + £1,000 for year 2 and year 3 students respectively.

Eligibility for Cardiff University Law Transfer Scholarship

  • The scholarship is available only for qualified transfer students who want to resume their LLB program at this University.
  • Candidates should agree with the University’s terms and conditions to be qualified for this scholarship.
  • Applicants will be transferring from UK transfer programs at Brickfields Asia College (BAC), HELP University, Taylors University, INTI International University, University of London (External LLB).
  • Note that no separate scholarship application is required if you meet the eligibility criteria and T&C of the University for the LLB program.
