Club Management Scholarship at University College Cork and Cork University Business School in Ireland for 2022/2023
The Club Management Scholarship is established through the Department of Management and Marketing (M&M), Cork University Business School (CUBS), University College Cork (UCC) in association with the 30% Club, to help support women in senior Project Management or HR roles.

University College Cork – National University of Ireland, Cork is a constituent university of the National University of Ireland and is based in Cork. It was established in 1845 as one of three Queen’s Colleges located in Belfast, Cork, and Galway.
The university became University College, Cork, under the Irish Universities Act of 1908. The Universities Act 1997 renamed University College Cork as National University of Ireland, Cork, and a Ministerial Order of 1998 renamed the university as University College Cork – National University of Ireland, Cork, though it continues to be almost universally known as University College Cork.
However, among other rankings and awards, the University College Cork was named the Irish University of the Year by The Sunday Times on five occasions; most recently in 2017. In 2015, the university was also named Top-performing university by the European Commission-funded U-Multirank system, based on acquiring the highest number of “A” scores (21 out of 28 metrics) among a field of 1200 partaking universities.
The University College Cork also became the first university to achieve the ISO 50001 standard in energy management in 2011. The university is also one of Ireland’s leading research institutes, with among the highest research income in the state.
In 2016, the university secured research funding of more than €96 million, a 21% increase over five years and a high for the university. The University College Cork had seven faculties: Arts and Celtic Studies, Commerce, Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Law, Medicine, and Science. Between 2005 and 2006 the university was restructured from these seven faculties into four colleges: Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Science; Business and Law; Medicine and Health; and Science, Engineering and Food Science.
According to the 2009-2012 University College Cork Strategy, the university aimed to improve research and innovation. In 2009, the university was rated in the top 3% of universities worldwide for research.
The University College Cork’s published research strategy proposed to create Centers of Excellence for world-class research in which the researchers and research teams would be given freedom and flexibility to pursue their areas of research.
In addition, research centers in University College Cork cover a range of areas which include Nanoelectronics with the Tyndall Institute; Food and Health with the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, NutraMara, Food for Health Ireland Research Centre, and Cereal Science Cork.
Worth of Club Management Scholarship
The Club Management Scholarship consists of 100% tuition fees for whichever one of the three programs the successful candidate is undertaking.
Eligibility for Club Management Scholarship
- To be qualified for the Club Management Scholarship, the female candidate must meet the entry threshold and other requirements for the relevant program of study and must make an application through the Postgraduate Applications Centre, by the scholarship deadline.
- You must meet the minimum entry requirements for the program as assessed from your submission to the Postgraduate Applications Centre.
- A theatre for the scholarship must also submit the following to MandMadmin@ucc.ie for the attention of the Head of Department – Professor Anthony McDonnell to include: a letter of application which outlines why the candidate should be considered for the scholarship (word limit < 1000 words) setting out how the MSc Human Resource Management, Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management, or Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management will help accomplish your individual career goals and shape you as a leader to create a more sustainable future and a copy of your Curriculum Vitae.
