• Candidate for the award program should put forward an unpublished legal article/paper in English or Spanish written wholly by that candidate.
• Only one submission is permitted per candidate in either language.
• Applicants for the Award program should hold a law degree and have proven experience in international human rights law.
• Previous Winners are not eligible to submit essays in future competitions.

• The papers should not be more than 35 pages in length, including footnotes.
• Essays should make use of Times New Roman font, 12-point double-spaced for the body of the essay and 10-point single-spaced for footnotes.
• Character spacing must be set to normal.
