DAAD Development Economics Masters Scholarships in Germany is a private, federally funded and state-funded, self-governing national agency of the institutions of higher education representing 365 German higher education institutions (100 universities and technical universities, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 52 colleges of music and art).
DAAD does not offer programs of study but awards competitive, merit-based grants for use toward study and/or research in Germany at any of the approved German institutions of higher education.
Worth of DAAD Development Economics Masters Scholarships
- The DAAD Development Economics Masters Scholarships consists of monthly payments of €750.
- The scholarship covers full insurance coverage, and travel allowance and an intensive German language course before the program start. Candidates with children can also apply for additional funds to secure their living expenses.
Eligibility for DAAD Development Economics Masters Scholarships
- You need a course of study of at least 6 semesters in length with a Bachelor’s degree encompassing at least 180 ECTS credits in the subject of Economics or a closely related subject.
- Each candidate need a verification of at least 150 of the 180 ECTS credits at the time of application (83% of your overall credits for program with any other structure) to be qualified for these scholarship.
- To be eligible for DAAD Development Economics Masters Scholarships, you must have an academic achievement in Economics and/ or Agricultural Economics and/ or Econometrics making at least 60 ECTS credits (as measured for a 180 ECTS bachelor’s program; for any other program types at least one third of overall courses taken), including courses in Economic Theory, Agricultural Economics, and Development Economics making at least 30 ECTS credits (or one sixth) altogether.
- Please note that as part of fulfilling the minimum of 30 ECTS course requirements in Economic Theory, Agricultural Economics, and Development Economics:
A minimum of 18 ECTS must be from modules with intermediate or high scientific level. For courses to be considered advanced or intermediate, the course content must clearly go beyond basic concepts or introductory.
- To be eligible for these scholarship, you must have an academic achievement in Mathematics or Statistics or Econometrics (in addition to the courses possibly counted above) totalling at least 12 ECTS credits (or 7% of overall credits for other structures).
- You also need an evidence of relevant language skills for DAAD Development Economics Scholarships.
- The required language for these scholarship is English.

The verification of the connection of previous studies is based on the documents enclosed in the application. Please submit documents that approve special knowledge for the selected course of study (for example syllabi or course descriptions), if not already visible from your transcript of records. This does not apply to Bachelor degree holders of the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Göttingen.
