Drake University Presidential Scholarships for International Students is offered for Bachelor degree in the field of athletic training, law, and pharmacy. Drake University is a private university in Des Moines, Iowa which offers undergraduate and graduate programs, including professional programs in law, business, and pharmacy. The university’s law school is among the 25 oldest in the United States.

Drake University was established in 1881 by George T. Carpenter, a teacher and pastor, and Francis Marion Drake, a Union general during the Civil War. It was originally associated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), although no religious association is officially recognized today. In 1881, the first classes assembled with 77 students and one building erected, Student’s Home.

The first permanent building, Old Main, was completed in 1883. Old Main remains outstanding on campus, housing administration offices, Levitt Hall, and Sheslow Auditorium, and as the site of many United States presidential debates, and other events.

Drake University’s law school is the second oldest law school in the country west of the Mississippi River, after Saint Louis University School of Law. It was established in 1865, by Chester C. Cole, who served on the Iowa Supreme Court from 1864 to 1876.

The university’s first international students enrolled for classes in 1886, and were citizens of China, Persia, Armenia, and Japan. Its first campus library opened on June 16, 1908 but due to a housing crisis in 1920, the University allowed social profession to use Greek letter symbols and associate with national offices.

Drake University’s Law School history is traced back to 1865. It is also a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools and has been approved since 1923, when approval started; and is one of only 75 ABA-approved law schools with a chapter of the Order of the Coif.

The university Law School is home to the American Judicature Society; the records of the National Bar Association, the nation’s oldest and largest national association of mainly African-American lawyers and judges; and the Drake Constitutional Law Center, one of only four constitutional law programs founded by the U.S. Congress and sponsored by the federal government.

The Iowa College of Pharmacy associated with Drake University in 1887 and operated as one of the colleges of the University, until 1906, when it was stopped. However, Drake University was without a pharmacy school until 1939, when the Des Moines College of Pharmacy Corporation, which separated from Des Moines University in 1927, was dismissed and the college’s staff and facilities became part of the University.

• To be qualified for Drake University Presidential Scholarships, each candidates are required to have appeared for SAT or ACT and submit the original scores of the same.
• Each candidate must be first-year students accepted in the applied program by the university to be qualified for these scholarship.
• To be eligible, scholars are required to provide the following tests with minimum scores required by the university: TOEFL IBT – 71, IELTS – 6.0 and Duolingo – 95.
