Fully Funded Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2022


The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was founded in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is often the most important ever single donation to a UK university.


Annually, the Gates Cambridge scholarship offers c.80 full-cost scholarships to outstanding applicants from countries outside the United Kingdom to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Approximately two-thirds of those awards are going to be offered to PhD students, with approximately 25 awards available within the US round and 55 available within the international round.


There is a minimum of 225 Scholars from c. 50 countries studying in Cambridge at anybody time who pursue the complete range of subjects available at the university and are spread across its departments and Colleges.

As of 2016, University alumni had won 194 Olympic medals

This scholarship covers the complete cost of studying and discretionary funding.


Eligibility for Gates Cambridge Scholarship


• The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is hospitable to citizens of any country outside the UK.
• Applicants for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship are selected to support their academic excellence.
• Applicants with excellent leadership potential are going to be considered.
• He/She must be committed to improving the lives of others.


• You should be applying to pursue one among the subsequent full-time residential courses of study at the University of Cambridge:
o PhD
o MPhil/MLitt
o One-year postgraduate course (with some exceptions)
• The following courses aren’t eligible :
o Any Undergraduate degree, like BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA)
o Business Doctorate (BusD)
o Master of Business (MBA)
o Master of Finance (MFin)
o PGCE
o MBBChir Clinical Studies
o MD Doctor of drugs degree (6 years, part-time)
o Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
o Part-time degrees
o Non-degree course
