Geneviève McMillan-Reba Stewart Scholarships for Undergraduate Students in Sciences Po France 2022/2023

You are interested in furthering an education in France. Good news! Geneviève McMillan-Reba Stewart Scholarships is currently ongoing application for Undergraduate Students in Sciences Po. In this article, we will discuss more about the scholarship, its worth, eligibility and application process.

The Geneviève McMillan-Reba Stewart Foundation was founded in 2005 to realize the vision of its founder, Geneviève McMillan (1922-2008), and to honor the life and work of her friend, the artist Reba Stewart (1930-1971). The scholarship celebrates McMillan’s desire for the African continent.

The McMillan-Stewart Foundation has partnered with the Sciences Po American Foundation since 2010 to offer merit-based scholarships to give access to France’s higher education system to creditable African students from sub-Saharan African countries. This will be done particularly through the undergraduate Europe Africa program of Sciences Po.

The Paris Institute of Political Studies which is commonly referred to as Sciences Po Paris or just Sciences is a grande école and grand établissement located in Paris and other cities in France. It emerges in the “École libre des sciences politiques”, a private school founded in Paris in 1872 by Émile Boutmy.

Émile Boutmy focused at developing the education of political elites in France by teaching them contemporary history rather than classical studies, which they would learn in universities at the same time.

Sciences Po was founded in February 1872 as the École Libre des Sciences Politiques (ELSP) by a group of French intellectuals, politicians and businessmen led by Émile Boutmy, and including Hippolyte Taine, Ernest Renan, Albert Sorel and Paul Leroy Beaulieu.

The establishment of the school was in response to global fears that the inefficiency of the French political and diplomatic corps would further reduce the country’s international stature, as France engaged with a series of crises, including the defeat in the 1870 Franco-Prussian War,[5] the demise of Napoleon III, and the disruption and massacre resulting from Paris Commune.

However, the founders of the school seek to improve the training of French politicians by setting up a new breeding ground where nearly all the major, non-technical state commissioners were trained.

Since creation, Sciences Po has been an institution in endless motion, consistently innovating and pushing back boundaries.
