International Scholarship at University of Queensland in Australia 2020
The University of Queensland in Australia is seeking a full-time, highly motivated applicant to perform high-quality research in the field of shale gas extraction. The successful applicant will be supported by an international scholarship.
The successful candidate will be working under the supervision of Dr. Zhongwei Chen at the School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team in partnership with industry partners. This scholarship is funded by the Australian Research Council Discovery Projects scheme.
The main objectives of this Ph.D. project are to conduct systematic microstructural, geomechanical and geochemical characterization of shale samples using cutting edge facilities, to develop novel experimental methods to quantify the response of shale permeability to a number of key parameters such as in-situ stress and water, and to visualize fluid flow in nanopores validated by direct experimental observations.
