ISSS Need-Based Awards at University of Minnesota in USA 2021
The University of Minnesota is providing a high-quality education at a reasonable cost to International students who are seeking to undergo a degree program at the Institution. The ISSS Need-Based Awards are available to further reduce these costs.
A number of scholarship awards are available for new foreign students based on criteria such as academic merit, financial need, and educational goals. Candidates must fill out an online application and a number of short essays for consideration. Applications for need-based scholarships must be completed no later than February 1, 2021. To be qualified for consideration for the need-based scholarship awards, candidates must finish their application for admission by the regular closing date (November 1 or January 1 for freshman candidates; transfer admission closing date vary) and be admitted to the University of Minnesota by April 1.
Applicants are more likely to obtain an award if they display financial need within the range of obtainable scholarship funding. Last year, awards ranged between $1,000-$5,000. In granting the need-based scholarship awards, the selection committee is steered by the following statement: The University values diversity, generally defined, to comprise a diversity of perspectives, experiences, backgrounds, and abilities. Admitting a diverse community of intellectuals interested in learning with and from each other nurtures discussion and innovation inside and outside of the classroom.
