Mandela Scholarships at Leiden University in Netherlands 2020

The Mandela Scholarships is granted by Leiden University to interested candidates looking to study for a degree program at the university.

The scholarship includes:

  • Tuition fees for a one-semester study abroad program (if applicable).
  • Living allowance: € 1000 per month.
  • Insurance sponsored by AON Student Insurance and arranged by Leiden University’s Scholarships Team.

Eligibility for Mandela Scholarships at Leiden University

  • Applicants must be Motivated to upgrade or extend their knowledge in order to make a contribution to the development of South Africa.
  • Applicants are expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.
  • Applicants must have Enrolled at a South African University.

Mandela Scholarships at Leiden University – How to Apply

In order to apply for the opportunity, you must submit an online application for admission for an exchange/study abroad course at Leiden University. When you have been granted admission to an exchange/study abroad program, fill out the Mandela application form. Then, submit your completed application form as a scanned email attachment to scholarships@sea.leidenuniv.nl.

  • The selection committee will evaluate all applications and choose scholarship award beneficiaries on the basis of academic advantage, motivation and potentials for a future contribution towards the growth of South Africa.
  • Candidates will be informed of the outcome by the Scholarships Team:
    – In June, for programs beginning in September
    – In November, for programs beginning in February
