However, at the time of its foundation, NUC had just five full-time students and study was constricted to engineering, mathematics and science. The university has three premises within the Newcastle city center.

The successful candidates of Onshore Excellence Scholarships will receive AU$30,000 partial funding from the University of Newcastle.
Eligibility for Onshore Excellence Scholarships for International Students
- The candidates of Onshore Excellence Scholarships must have a full time offer letter from the University of Newcastle for an undergraduate or graduate course.
- You must be international students to be qualified for Onshore Excellence Scholarships.
- Scholars applying for Onshore Excellence Scholarships must exceed the admission requirements established by the university.
How to Apply for Onshore Excellence Scholarships for International Students
- Onshore Excellence Scholarships are automatically applied for after application to the University where qualification requirement is met and students will receive notification of the value of their scholarship with their offer.
- Please note that if a candidate wish to reject this offer of scholarship, it is their responsibility to inform the International Admissions team of the University. The scholarship is differently considered accepted at time of offer.
- Candidates who do not receive an offer of the scholarship will not be qualified for the scholarship. Internal transfer students who are studying at an Australian or Online campus and were not previously awarded the scholarship will also not be qualified.

- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honors)
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors)
- Bachelor of Podiatry.
Scholarship offers will be made on the basis of academic excellence. All academic excellence determinations are determined according to the University’s policy for determining ATAR and GPA.
