Scholarships in Dissection of Genetics and Physiology for International Students in University of Queensland 2022/2023
The Scholarships in Dissection of Genetics and Physiology is aligned with a newly begun ARC CoE for Plant Success in Nature and Agriculture, which is led by the University of Queensland.
The scholarship grants you the opportunity to work with leading researchers and contribute to large projects of national importance.
This project strives to create an understanding of the physiology and genetics regulating transpiration efficiency in sorghum and contribute to an understanding of relations with environmental factors.
This project will also use plant physiological experiments and mathematical modeling. The biological understanding will be captured with predictive models attaching trait variations with the underpinning genetics and crop performance in production environments.
However, work will involve intricate physiological analysis in controlled environments and the field, and growth and use of crop growth models linked with the whole genome prediction approach. The project is expected to develop new avenues for adjusting crops to changing environments and breeding.
The University of Queensland is a public research university situated mainly in Brisbane, the capital city of the Australian state of Queensland. Established in 1909 by the Queensland parliament, the university is one of the six sandstone universities, an informal designation of the oldest university in each state.
The university was rated second nationally by the Australian Research Council in their latest research assessment and equal second in Australia based on the average of four major global university league tables.
The University of Queensland is a founding member of edX, Australia’s leading Group of Eight, and the international research-intensive Association of Pacific Rim Universities.
The university’s main St Lucia campus occupies much of the riverside inner suburb of St Lucia, southwest of the Brisbane central business district.
Other University of Queensland campuses and facilities are located all over Queensland, the largest of which are the Gatton campus and the Mayne Medical School.
The university’s overseas establishments include the UQ North America office in Washington D.C., and the UQ-Ochsner Clinical School in Louisiana, United States.
In addition, the University of Queensland offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and higher doctorate degrees through a college, a graduate school, and six faculties. The university integrates over one hundred research institutes and centers offering research programs, such as the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, Boeing Research and Technology Australia Centre, the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, and the university’s Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation.
