The University of Sussex is an active member of the SoCoBio Doctoral Training Partnership, sponsored by the Biotechnology and Biosciences Research Council (BBSRC). The university is a public research university situated in Falmer, East Sussex, England.

Worth of SoCoBio BBSRC Training Partnership Scholarships
- The scholarship will cover four years of UK or International PhD fees and a tax free maintenance allowance which is currently £15,609 plus some research costs.
- All successful candidate will benefit from laboratory rotations in year one, a placement, taught modules in entrepreneurship and data management and from Socobio summer schools and conferences.
Eligibility for SoCoBio BBSRC Training Partnership Scholarships
- SoCoBio BBSRC Training Partnership Scholarships are open to UK and Overseas students according to the latest UKRI student eligibility rules. Please note that up to 30% of each unit of students may be overseas students, so the consortium can offer a small number of international fee waivers.
- To be eligible for SoCoBio BBSRC Training Partnership Scholarships, you must be a UK national who has been living in the UK or EU for the three years before starting your course.
- You need an EU national with Settled Status to be qualified for the scholarship.
- To be eligible for SoCoBio BBSRC Training Partnership Scholarships, each candidate must have an EU national with Pre-Settled status who has been living in the UK or the EU for 3 years before starting his/her course.
- You must be a student with Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.
- You must also be an Irish National (due to a reciprocal agreement with the UK)
- All other students like EU nationals moving to the UK to start their PhD will count as overseas students.
