UNSW International Research Scholarships in Australia 2021
The University of South Wales (UNSW) in Australia, is providing the UNSW International Research Scholarships to foreign research candidates of outstanding research potential to school at the University.
There are three major UNSW International Research Scholarships available, which comprise the following:
- International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) – Scholarship award obtainable for PhD and Masters by Research in all fields
- University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA) – Scholarship award obtainable for PhD and Masters by Research in all fields
- Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) plus a Faculty Research Stipend – Scholarship award obtainable for PhD, Masters by Research and for Masters of Philosophy (in chosen disciplines based on Faculty research areas)
Worth of UNSW International Research Scholarships
1. The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) offers the following values:
- Payment of Tuition Fees and a yearly allowance of $28,597* (in addition some Faculties may offer an additional scholarship for the top-ranked candidates) offered for 3 years for a Ph.D. and 2 years for a Masters degree by Research.
- Refund of three years of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) (for the candidates and their dependent relatives)
- Relinquishment of Visa Charges (by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) at the moment of Visa application)
- NSW Government Travel Concession
- Exclusion from NSW Government State School Fees for children of the candidate
- The University may award PhD IPRS holders an extension of at most of 6 months if their research is badly affected by situations beyond their control and given that the candidate is making acceptable progress. No leeway are possible for Masters by Research.
2. The University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA) offers the listed benefits:
- Payment of Tuition Fees and a yearly allowance of $28,597* (also, some Faculties may offer an additional scholarship for the top-ranked candidates) offered for 3 years for a Ph.D. and 2 years for a Masters degree by Research.
- Exclusion from NSW Government State School Fees for offspring of the candidate (present NSW Government policy as at June 2008).
3. Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) plus a Faculty Research Allowance – offers the listed benefits:
- Expense of Tuition Fees and a yearly allowance of minimum value $28,597* funded by a Faculty Research Scholarship award to work in particular areas of research specified by the Faculty (also, some Faculties may offer an additional scholarship for the top ranked candidates) offered for 3 years for a PhD, 2 years for a Masters by Research.
- Exclusion from NSW Government State School Fees for children of the candidate (present NSW Government policy as at June 2008).
Eligibility for UNSW International Research Scholarships
- Scholarship awards are only obtainable to candidates who possess a 4-year bachelor’s degree with Honours class 1 from an Australian institution or an equal research qualification/experience. This qualification has to be in a field applicable to your area of research.
- A published research piece in a judged international journal
- A published or judged seminar paper, a published or judged presenting author abstract or a published research article
- Have possessed membership or fellowship of prominent learned professional establishments by advanced study, examination and specialized practice
How to Apply for UNSW International Research Scholarships
To apply for these scholarship awards:
- You have to first apply for admission.
- You only are required to have made an admission application, not obtained an offer of admission, so as to be eligible to apply for the scholarship award round.
- Once you have put in for Admission, you will obtain an admission Application Receipt Letter. At the bottom region of your letter, you will be given your own distinct URL which you can use if you wish to apply for Scholarship when the scholarship rounds are available.
Application Deadline: Next round of applications will end on January 8, 2021. Results will be announced from March 2021
