Fully Funded University of Liverpool Vice-Chancellor’s International Attainment Scholarship for China, UK 2023/2024

About the University of Liverpool and Scholarship

The University of Liverpool (abbreviated UOL; colloquially known as The Uni of) is an English public research institution located in Liverpool. It was established in 1881 as a college, and in 1903 it was granted a Royal Charter and the authority to confer degrees. It is also acknowledged as The Original Red Brick, the earliest of the six municipal colleges known by the term “red brick.” There are 35 departments and schools spread over its three faculties. It is a founding member of the N8 Group for scientific collaboration and the Russell Group, and its business school have earned the triple crown designation.

The college offers more than 230 first-year courses in 103 subjects, and among its former students and alumni are nine Nobel Prize winners. Among its graduates are CEOs from companies including Motorola, Tesco, GlobalFoundries, ARM Holdings, and The Coca-Cola Company. It was the first university in the United Kingdom to establish departments of oceanography, civic design, architecture, and biochemistry (at the Johnston Laboratories). The institution was the first in the United Kingdom to create an autonomous university in China, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool institution, in 2006, making it the world’s first Sino-British university. Liverpool had a turnover of £612.6 million in 2021-22, including £113.6 million from research grants and contracts.

The University of Liverpool was placed 31st out of 124 in The Independent’s Complete University Guide 2013, based on nine factors, while The Times Good University Guide 2008 put Liverpool 34th out of 113 universities. The University of Liverpool was recently placed 27th out of 123 in the Sunday Times university ranking. The University of Liverpool was ranked 29th out of 122 universities in the United Kingdom by The Sunday Times in 2010.

When applications are made, the institution can give a variety of scholarships and awards to overseas students who are domiciled in PR China and hold a Bachelor’s Degree conferred or to be awarded by a Project 211 or Project 985 institution in PR China with a minimum average grade of 80% overall.

There are 18 (eighteen) scholarships in total. Points are:

  • 1 (one) Full scholarship
  • 2 (two) £10,000 scholarships
  • 5 (five) £5,000 scholarships
  • 10 (ten) £1,000 scholarships

All scholarships will be given out in the form of fee waivers when the recipient has officially registered at the university.

Please Note: The University’s other scholarships and bursaries cannot be combined with this award.

Eligibility Criteria for Vice-Chancellor’s International Attainment Scholarship for China

Candidates are advised to meet the following requirements to be qualified for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Attainment Scholarship for China at the University of Liverpool:

  • Residing in PR China at the time applications are submitted
  • Have accepted and paid a deposit on one of the Postgraduate Taught Programs at the University of Liverpool’s campus.
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree granted or scheduled to be given by a Project 211 or Project 985 university in the People’s Republic of China with a minimum overall grade of 80%.
  • Are self-financed, therefore students or parents are responsible for covering the cost of tuition.
