The City of Toronto Women’s Studies (Undergraduate) Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who has completed their third year of study and is currently enrolled in a major or specialist program in Women’s Studies. Both the undergraduate and graduate scholarships are conferred based on academic merit and financial need, benefitting students in Women and Gender Studies who are enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis and are expected to make significant contributions to the fields of women’s studies, community studies, and public policy.

Eligibility Criteria for the City of Toronto Women and Gender Studies Scholarship
Candidates are advised to meet the following requirements to be eligible for the City of Toronto Women and Gender Studies Scholarship at the University of Toronto:
- Possess Canadian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Ontario;
- Possess at least 13.5 credits completed.
- Enroll in a Women’s Studies major or specialty program.
- Prove both your need for money and your academic merit.
- Be thought most likely to contribute to research on women’s status, community studies, and public policy.
Application Procedure for the City of Toronto Women and Gender Studies Scholarship
- New for Fall 2023–Winter 2024: The Winter term will see the awarding of all in-course prizes. The application period will end at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024. You just need to submit one application. On a single U of T Student Award Application Form, you may submit applications for many awards. Before choosing the prize, please make sure to review the criteria. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
- In your statement, outline your future goals and how you want to contribute to research on women’s status, community studies, and public policy, including studies on urban planning, employment, public works, transportation, housing, and municipal services.
Notification of decision:
- After the application deadline, winners will typically get an email from the University Registrar’s Office with an award letter.
- It is recommended that you save the award letter for future reference since it will contain information on the prize payout.
