Any UK or EU candidate who earns A*AA grades in their A levels (or equivalent in other degrees) with the A* in chemistry is eligible for a £1,000 scholarship from the Department of Chemistry.
Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarship
The Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarship Program aids chemistry studies for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. The program was started in honor of Denis Henry Desty, a pioneer in the disciplines of chromatography and combustion research who studied chemistry at Southampton in the 1940s. Students enrolled in the four-year MChem programs who match the requirements below are eligible to apply for a £2,000 scholarship for each year they attend Southampton.
Depending on whether they complete a paid placement year as part of their education, during which they would not get a payment, each participant will receive up to £8,000 throughout the four-year program. Each year, two Denis Henry Desty Undergraduate Scholarships will be given out. Eligible candidates are asked to apply for the scholarship (through an online application form) if they have made Southampton their top choice of universities. They will be identified using the university’s contextual admissions criteria.
