About New York University and Fellowship

Situated in New York City, New York University (NYU) is a privately owned research institution. New Yorkers headed by Albert Gallatin created NYU in 1832 as a nondenominational, all-male university next to City Hall. The New York State Legislature chartered the university in 1831. Its curriculum was centered on a secular education.

For international journalists enrolled in any of NYU’s graduate journalism programs, regardless of their identities or origins, the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute Global Journalist Fellowship offers financial assistance. Except for Literary Reportage and Global and Joint Program Studies, which are both four-semester programs, all of the other programs last three.
