About the University of Liverpool
The University of Liverpool, often abbreviated as UOL and locally known as The Uni of, is a public research university situated in Liverpool, England. Originally established as a college in 1881, it received its Royal Charter in 1903, granting it the authority to confer degrees. The University of Liverpool is recognized as one of the six ‘red brick’ civic universities, and it was the first to be referred to as The Original Red Brick. The university is organized into three faculties, which house 35 departments and schools. It is a founding member of the Russell Group and the N8 Group, which promotes research collaboration among universities. It ranks seventh in terms of endowment size among English universities. Graduates of the University of Liverpool are recognized with the post-nominal letters Lpool to denote their affiliation with the institution.
In various university rankings, the University of Liverpool has received recognition. For example, it was ranked 31st out of 124 universities in the Complete University Guide 2013. The Times Good University Guide 2008 placed Liverpool 34th out of 113 universities. In 2010, The Sunday Times ranked the university 29th out of 122 institutions nationwide.
In international rankings, the THE-QS World University Rankings rated the University of Liverpool as the 99th best in the world in 2008 and the 137th best in 2009. Furthermore, in the 2016 Round University Ranking, Liverpool is ranked 122nd globally and 15th in the UK.
The Liverpool Law School offers four bursaries for students enrolling in its taught LLM program. These bursaries are designed to assist students with their tuition fees and aim to attract top students from the UK, Europe, and internationally to join the expanding LLM program. There are two bursaries, each valued at £500, available to two students classified as ‘home students,’ and two bursaries, each valued at £1,000, available to two international students.
