About the University of Liverpool

The University of Liverpool, often abbreviated as UOL and locally known as The Uni of, is a public research university situated in Liverpool, England. Originally established as a college in 1881, it received its Royal Charter in 1903, granting it the authority to confer degrees. The University of Liverpool is recognized as one of the six ‘red brick’ civic universities, and it was the first to be referred to as The Original Red Brick. The university is organized into three faculties, which house 35 departments and schools. It is a founding member of the Russell Group and the N8 Group, which promotes research collaboration among universities. Additionally, the university’s management school holds triple-crown accreditation.

The institution boasts a prestigious alumni and faculty, including ten Nobel Prize winners. It offers over 230 first-degree courses covering 103 different subjects. Notable alumni of the University of Liverpool include the CEOs of companies like GlobalFoundries, ARM Holdings, Tesco, Motorola, and The Coca-Cola Company. The university holds the distinction of being the first in the UK to establish departments in oceanography, civic design, architecture, and biochemistry, notably at the Johnston Laboratories. It ranks seventh in terms of endowment size among English universities. The Liverpool Law School offers four bursaries for students enrolling in its taught LLM program. These bursaries are designed to assist students with their tuition fees and aim to attract top students from the UK, Europe, and internationally to join the expanding LLM program. There are two bursaries, each valued at £500, available to two students classified as ‘home students,’ and two bursaries, each valued at £1,000, available to two international students.
