Eligibility Criteria for University of British Columbia UBC Outstanding International Student Award

Candidates are advised to meet the following requirements to be eligible for the University of British Columbia UBC Outstanding International Student Award:

  • Qualified Countries: International candidates are qualified to apply.
  • Admissible Course or Subjects: Undergraduate degree program in any subject offered by the university.
  • Acceptable Criteria: To be assessed for the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award:
    • Be a new student at UBC, having come straight out of high school or a post-secondary institution (college or university).
    • Possess a Canadian study permit (student visa) and be an international student attending UBC. (Any modifications to your citizenship status will impact your eligibility for scholarships.)
    • Exhibit exceptional academic success as well as a robust extracurricular activity level.
  • Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet UBC’s additional competitive entrance requirements and exhibit excellent academic success (an “A” average or similar status).
  • Language Requirements: To be admitted to the university, international applicants frequently have to meet specific English language/other language requirements.

Application Process for University of British Columbia UBC Outstanding International Student Award

Candidates must have an admission to UBC to be eligible for this fund. You will then automatically be put forward for the OIS Award.

Note: Shortly after receiving an admissions offer from UBC, you will be evaluated for this award. Selections for scholarships are done every year between the middle of March and the end of April.
