In line with its dedication to fostering research excellence, the University of Brighton proudly presents the International Research Scholarships. These scholarships are specifically designed for students who were actively engaged in studies at the university during the academic year 2022-23 and anticipate commencing their Ph.D. studies in the inaugural week of April 2024.
The International Research Scholarships offer a unique opportunity, providing a maximum of two scholarships that cover the full tuition fee for each year of the recipient’s postgraduate research degree, extending up to a maximum duration of three years. These scholarships are a testament to the university’s commitment to supporting outstanding international research students in their pursuit of advanced studies across diverse subject areas.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Brighton International Research Scholarships
Applicants are advised to meet the following requirements to be eligible for University of Brighton International Research Scholarships:
- You need to be an internationally enrolled student with full payment rights.
- To be eligible for the PhD program, you must be a current master’s student enrolled at the University of Brighton, with a final degree result of merit or above.
- To pursue a PhD at the University of Brighton, you have to have been offered and accepted a place.
Selection Criteria
The following criteria are used to provide overseas research scholarships from the University of Brighton:
- The academic qualifications of the applicant
- The candidate’s personal qualities and interpersonal abilities that they believe are necessary for them to completely participate in and add to the University of Brighton’s research culture
- How the candidate (and/or their community) will benefit from the University of Brighton scholarship and how attending a UK higher education institution will affect their research career
- A doctoral project that fits into the university’s current research agenda. Kindly provide proof that you collaborated with a supervisor on the study project.
- How the applicant plans to pay for their daily expenses.
Note: The relevant Doctoral College committee meeting will review your application before your planned start date. Applicants will be informed of the Doctoral College committee’s decision shortly after the meeting; this decision is final. Please be aware that any supporting documents will not be given back.
