Bertha Kalm Scholarships for International Students – Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are advised to meet the following prerequisites to be eligible for Bertha Kalm Scholarships for International Students at San Jose State University:

  • International students may apply.
  • Students may apply to any undergraduate or graduate degree program at San Jose State University that they are interested in.
  • Qualification Standards: All of the following requirements must be met by candidates to be considered:
  1. The candidates must be F-1 students enrolled full-time at SJSU.
  2. Full-time enrollment is required of all applicants.
  • The candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.70 and must fulfill the admission criteria of the degree program they desire to enroll in at SJSU.
  • The following English language competency exams must be taken by the students and results submitted: IELTS – 7.0, PTE – 68.

The university requires the following paperwork from the students:

  • Complete full.
  • Transcripts from every level of education, including graduate and undergraduate, as well as a statement of purpose for the present semester. In a paper of no more than 1,000 words, you must discuss item 2 below.
  • CV (Your CV should detail all of your achievements, including employment history, volunteer activity, and any research or artistic endeavors).
  • Two letters of support. Your mentoring mentor must provide one recommendation.
  • Your second letter of recommendation might be from a professor who isn’t your mentor, or it could be a reference from a company or volunteer organization that knows you well.
