About the University of Exeter and the Scholarship

Exeter, Devon, England in the United Kingdom has a public research university under the name of the University of Exeter. St. Luke’s College, Exeter School of Science, Exeter School of Art, and Camborne School of Mines were established in 1838, 1855, 1863, and 1888, respectively. These organizations combined to form the new university in the wake of the University of Exeter’s 1955 royal charter. Exon is the abbreviation for Exeter University (from the Latin Exoniensis) in post-nominals, and this is the suffix used for both academic and honorary degrees from the institution.

The institution is now listed between positions 13 and 19 in the major university rankings for the United Kingdom. Exeter was placed joint-26th overall in the UK in The Sunday Times’ ten-year (1998–2007) average rating of British institutions based on reliable league table results. According to The Times, The Guardian, and The Complete University Guide, it rose to the 7th, 9th, and 10th spots in the UK for 2016.

Exeter was ranked 93rd in the 2015–16 edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. According to the Leiden Rankings (2015), Exeter was placed 34th out of 500 top-ranked institutions globally.
