About Flinders University and Scholarship

Eleven locations make up the public research institution Flinders University, which is dispersed across South Australia and the Northern Territory. Its corporate offices are located in Adelaide. It was founded in 1966 and given the name Flinders in honor of British sailor Matthew Flinders, who explored and recorded the Australian and South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.

156 acres of natural woods and gardens surround the main campus of Flinders University, which is situated in Bedford Park in Adelaide’s south. Tonsley, the Central Business District of Adelaide, Renmark, Alice Springs, and Darwin all have additional campuses. It belongs to the group of innovative research universities known as IRU.

Aikido, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, CrossFit, Football, Hockey, Kendo, Korfball, Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Muay Thai, Netball, Quidditch Squash, Ultimate Frisbee, Underwater, Volleyball, Wing Chun, and Women’s Soccer are a few of the 22 sports organizations connected to Flinders University.

The main campus of the university is situated in the Bedford Park district of inner southern Adelaide, some 12 kilometers south of Adelaide’s city. In the middle of the city, near Tonsley and Victoria Square, the university is also visible. The Northern Territory, southwest Victoria, and rural South Australia all maintain a variety of facilities for outside education. A variety of offshore programs are also provided, mostly in the Asia-Pacific area, and as of 2020, 19.5% of the on-campus student body was made up of foreign students.

More than 160 undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as higher degree research supervision in all fields, are available at Flinders University. New information and communication technologies are used in many courses to enhance in-person instruction and offer flexible possibilities.

The Clare Burton Memorial Scholarship was created to honor and carry on the work of Dr. Clare Burton, a renowned employment equality researcher, an administrator in the public sector, scholar, consultant, and writer. The Clare Burton Memorial Fund, which is managed by QUT, provides the funding. The donation is intended to support students’ study of women’s equality in all fields of endeavor, including (but not limited to) work, education, health, communications, engineering, and science.

Clare Burton Memorial Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Clare Burton Memorial Scholarship at Flinders University:

  • A citizen of Australia (including dual nationals)
  • A resident of Australia permanently
  • A bearer of a permanent humanitarian visa
  • A resident of New Zealand.
  • Be enrolled full- or part-time in a research degree (such as a doctorate, professional doctorate, or master’s degree) at an Australian institution to qualify.
  • Be conducting research where gender equity is the primary area of study. Including, but not limited to, employment, education, health, communications, engineering, and science, this covers women and equality in all fields of endeavor.
  • Having at the very least reached the first-degree milestone.
