About Flinders University and Scholarship
In Adelaide, South Australia, there is a public university called Flinders University. It was established in 1966 and is called in honor of the explorer and surveyor of the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century, Matthew Flinders. A member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and a thriving university, Flinders is ranked 36th globally and in the top 10 in Australia among institutions founded less than 50 years ago.
The university’s main campus is located about 12 kilometers south of Adelaide’s downtown in the inner southern Adelaide neighborhood of Bedford Park. The university is also present in Tonsley and Victoria Square in the city’s center. There are 22 affiliated sports clubs at Flinders University, including teams for Aikido, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, CrossFit, Football, Hockey, Kendo, Korfball, Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Muay Thai, Netball, Quidditch Squash, Ultimate Frisbee, Underwater, Volleyball, Wing Chun, and Women’s Soccer. Additionally, students from Flinders University have the opportunity to go to yearly university games competitions and compete in a variety of sports while representing the university.
To help undergraduate students who are working on an honors research project in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University, the college has established honors scholarships. Their goal is to increase research and involvement in honors programs throughout the College’s many academic departments.

Benefits:
There will be six yearly scholarships for a maximum of $2,500 each, pending funding availability. Normally, there will only be two scholarships offered every College-affiliated Honours program.
Eligibility Criteria for College of Nursing and Health Sciences Honours Scholarship
Candidates are advised to meet the following prerequisites to be qualified for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences Honours Scholarship at Flinders University:
- Be Australian nationals or permanent residents;
- Be pursuing or have already finished a relevant undergraduate degree;
- Have started or are starting one of the honors programs listed below through the College of Nursing and Health Sciences;
- Have as their primary supervisor a staff member of, or a holder of full academic status in, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences;
- Have earned a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honors), a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honors), or a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honors) in the year of the award.
- Not work as an academic faculty member at Flinders University currently
- Not be receiving any further scholarships for honors.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship recipients will be chosen based on their academic standing as shown by their Grade Point Average (GPA) for the last 36 units of third-year coursework. The total course GPA in years two and three of study as well as the personal statement may be used to distinguish individuals in cases when ranks based on GPA are similar. The College of Nursing and Health Sciences Honors Coordinators and the Dean (Education) will serve on the selection committee.
