About the University of East Anglia and Scholarship

In Norwich, England, there is a public research institution called the University of East Anglia (UEA). The university was founded in 1963 and comprises four colleges and 26 schools of study spread on a 320-acre (130-hectare) site west of the city center. With an expenditure of £370 million and an undergraduate offer rate of 85% in 2021, the institution’s annual income for 2021–2022 was £295 million, of which £30 million came from grants and contracts for research.

Three Nobel Prize winners, a co-inventor of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca, a small interfering RNA discovery pioneer, a president of the Royal Society, three Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and 48 Fellows of the Royal Society are all UEA alumni and faculty. State heads, politicians, famous scientists, broadcasters, actors, historians, business owners, and three Booker Prize-winning writers are among the alumni.

According to the Research Excellence Framework, which was released on May 12, 2022, more than 91% of the university’s research was “world-leading” or “internationally excellent,” and more than 47% of that research fell into the top category of 4*, which is the highest level for World Leading Research. This figure was significantly higher than the 41% national average. In the UK, UEA was placed 13th for the caliber of its research outputs.

According to the Times Higher Education world rankings for 2015–16 and the Leiden Ranking for research excellence for 2016, the institution is ranked in the top 1% globally and within the top 100 globally.

By hosting activities like Pimp My Barrow, which raised money for The Big C every year from 2006 to 2018, the UEA Student Union fosters a sense of community among the student body. For the Norfolk charity, more than £50,000 has been raised. At the yearly Derby Day sporting event, UEA competes against the University of Essex in over 40 sports. Since 2013, UEA has won the Derby Day trophy seven times. UEA was placed 20th overall among all major British institutions and 13th in the UK for the quality of its research outputs, moving up nine spots from the last evaluation in 2014.
