Students in almost 120 different countries can study abroad thanks to connections Adelphi has with foreign providers. Students may spend all of their federal and institutional funds for direct exchanges with Adelphi partners during the semester and academic year. Students may use all of their federal assistance and 75% of their institutional aid from Adelphi while still enrolled on campus for programs that are not directly affiliated with the university but come from recognized schools and are approved by the Center for International Education. There are Adelphi faculty-led programs in the fields of theater, art, art history, literature, history, counseling, chemistry, and speech-language pathology available in Italy, Kenya, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, England, Jamaica, Kosovo, and Poland.
The institution was given university status by the New York State Board of Regents in 1963, and its name was changed to Adelphi University. The School of Business was established in 1964. The Institute for Advanced Psychological Studies was established in 1966. The institution created ABLE (Adult Baccalaureate Learning Experience) in 1973 to educate adults. It was one of the first courses designed for nontraditional students and is now known as the College of Professional and Continuing Studies.
The Institute for Teaching and Educational Studies was established in 1984, and in 1990 it changed its name to the School of Education. The Society of Mentors was founded in 1993 to provide students with academic advisers who they could contact whenever they needed help with their studies. The Honors College was established in 1995.
For the past 10 years, Adelphi University has been named a “Best Buy” college by the Fiske Guide to Colleges for providing a high-quality education at a reasonable cost. Adelphi University also takes part in the University and College Accountability Network (U-CAN) of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). Adelphi University is launching its Graduate International Recognition Scholarships, which will be awarded for the academic year 2023–2024, to honor intellectually brilliant people who merit it. The major goal of this program is to help all the most gifted individuals who want to pursue graduate studies at a university in the United States.

Eligibility Criteria for Graduate International Recognition Scholarships
- All nationalities are eligible.
- Acceptable Subjects or Coursework: Graduate-level coursework in any discipline the institution offers.
- Acceptable Standards: You must be admitted to a graduate program and register as a new Adelphi graduate student to qualify for Graduate International Recognition Scholarships. International students will be taken into consideration if they have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2.

- Interested candidates must submit admission to a graduate program at Adelphi University to be considered for the Graduate International Recognition Scholarships. Candidates must then send an application for admission together with all required documentation.
- Supporting Records: You will need the following paperwork before you start:
- a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and any transcripts from post-secondary education
- Results of any particular standardized examinations (such as the LSAT for law programs)
- Your passport copy
- Your English proficiency exam results
- Students must fulfill the entry requirements of the program they have selected to be admitted.
- Candidates must adhere to all of the university’s English Language Requirements.
