About the University of Queensland and Scholarship

The University of Queensland has a variety of campuses and buildings distributed around the state. UQ’s main campus is located in the Brisbane district of St Lucia, which is bounded to the north, east, and south by a meander in the Brisbane River. Several sources have praised UQ’s main campus for its attractiveness. It also has campuses in Gatton and Herston.
The University of Queensland Art Museum is housed in the James and Mary Emelia Mayne Centre on the St Lucia campus. The Art Museum was founded in 1976 in the Forgan Smith Tower to hold artworks gathered by The University of Queensland since the 1940s, and it relocated to its current location in 2004. The University’s Art Collection is now Queensland’s second biggest public art collection, with over 4,400 artworks. In 1910, the UQ Library was established. It grew from a tiny provincial university library to a prominent research institution. It is made up of 11 branches.
The HASS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Endowment Fund manages the HASS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, which was founded in 2020 as part of the Create Change Scholarship Match Initiative.

HASS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are advised to meet the following conditions to be qualified for the HASS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship at the University of Queensland:
- are enrolled in a UQ undergraduate program supervised by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
- are an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
- are a domestic student
- can display financial hardship.
Selection Criteria
The school will consider:
- Financial necessity has been established
- Intellectual capability
- Future academic potential.
Application Procedure for HASS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship
Fill out the scholarship online application form and provide the following:
- Documentation of your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status
- A 300-word statement describing your financial condition and circumstances
- A 500-word statement summarizing your academic achievements to date and future academic potential.

The scholarship office will notify you through email after your application has been received. If you haven’t gotten an email within two days of submitting your application, please contact them at scholarships@hass.uq.edu.au. If you are chosen, you will be notified in writing.
