About the University of West London and Scholarship

Why should I enroll at the University of West London? Attending the University of West London (UWL) has several benefits. UWL is well-known for its superior academic standards in a wide range of subjects and for offering top-notch instruction. Students benefit from abundant networking, internship possibilities, and a varied, dynamic atmosphere at this campus, which is situated in the energetic metropolis of London.

The Lady Byron School was established in 1860 at the location of the University of West London’s Ealing campus, marking the beginning of the university. Later on, the institution was renamed Ealing College of Higher Education.

On William Street, the Slough campus was established in January 1912 as a selective secondary school. It changed its name to Slough College of Further Education during the 1960s. The St. Mary’s Road location was home to Ealing Technical College in the 1960s, which granted CNAA degrees in a variety of fields, including law. It was shut down in 2011 after changing its name to Thames Valley College of Higher Education in the 1980s.

The London College of Music, Queen Charlotte’s College of Health Care Studies, Ealing College of Higher Education, and Thames Valley College of Higher Education united to become the Polytechnic of West London in 1991. After two years, the polytechnic was renamed Thames Valley University (TVU) and converted into a university by the Further and Higher Education Act of 1992. The university amalgamated with the AIDS section of the North West Thames Regional Authority, Riverside College of Nursing, and Northwick Park School of Nursing in 1994.

On September 24, 2017, the University of West London (UWL) was ranked 56th nationally in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018, placing UWL in the top half of UK institutions. The 2021 edition of the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide placed The University of West London as the 34th best university in the United Kingdom (out of over 130 institutions) on September 5, 2020.
