About Kingston University

An English public research university, Kingston University London is situated in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in South West London. The Kingston Technical Institute was established in 1899, which laid the groundwork for it. The company was once known as Kingston Polytechnic until being given university status in 1992.

Over 17,000 students attend Kingston, which generates £192 million in income annually. The four campuses are located in Kingston and Roehampton. The university is divided into four faculties: the Kingston School of Art, the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences (which brings together the Kingston Business School and the School of Law, Social, and Behavioural Sciences), the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education, and the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment.


The institution has departments for business, science, engineering, art, and fashion. The Kingston Business School’s MBA program is approved by the CNAA. The University’s Town House building, which was inaugurated in January 2020, has won two prestigious awards: the Mies van der Rohe Architecture Award for the best building in the EU in 2022 and the 2021 Stirling Prize, given by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to the best new building in the UK.

Kingston was ranked 45th out of 128 institutions by The Guardian. It was ranked 92 in the Good University Guide for 2022 by The Times/The Sunday Times. The Guardian placed Kingston first out of 121 institutions in 2018 for its graphic design and product design programs. The Guardian University Award for outstanding teaching was given to Kingston University in 2017. Kingston is listed in The Guardian University Guide 2020 as one of the top 40 universities in the UK, in the top 250 worldwide for business and economics, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 for business and economics, and in the top 140 globally for MBA according to “QS World University Rankings” (2020).

Kingston University can award 20 postgraduate scholarships to deserving undergraduate students and recent graduates (only class of 2020-2022) thanks to the kind contributions of alumni and supporters of the university to the Inspire the Future campaign. The goal of the fellowship is to support academic achievement and enable gifted graduates to pursue further study and research. Fees for taught master’s or postgraduate diploma programs with September start dates will be reduced by 40%* thanks to the scholarship.

Inspire the Future Postgraduate Scholarships – Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are advised to meet the following prerequisites to be qualified for Inspire the Future Postgraduate Scholarships at Kingston University:

  • possess a Kingston University undergraduate degree from 2020–2022, or be on track to graduate in 2023.
  • be considered a “home” for fees.
  • have earned a 2:1 classification in your undergraduate degree, or anticipate doing so.

Selection Criteria

  • being the first member of their family to go to college
  • have an annual family household income of under £25,000
  • acknowledge having a disability or a particular learning difference
  • being acknowledged as a young adult caregiver by social services
  • be under 25 at the time of initial enrollment at Kingston University AND have spent time in care, been housed in a shelter, or are alienated from your family.
  • possess a Sanctuary Scholarship.
