About Anglia Ruskin University and Scholarship
Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), a distinguished public university in East Anglia, United Kingdom, traces its origins back to the Cambridge School of Art, founded in 1858 by William John Beamont, a Fellow of Trinity College at the University of Cambridge. Achieving university status in 1992, the institution underwent a significant transformation and was renamed Anglia Ruskin University in 2005 in honor of John Ruskin, the esteemed Oxford University professor and author, who delivered the inaugural speech of the Cambridge School of Art in 1858. ARU proudly holds its place among the “post-1992 universities.”
The university’s motto, “Excellentia per societatem” in Latin, translates to “Excellence through partnership” in English, reflecting its commitment to collaborative and impactful education. In 2022, Anglia Ruskin University boasted a student population of 35,195, with five campuses strategically located across Cambridgeshire, Essex, and Greater London in the southeastern part of the United Kingdom.
Anglia Ruskin University has garnered acclaim for its commitment to environmental sustainability, earning a First in the Green League 2012 by People & Planet. This recognition is based on ten environmental criteria, encompassing both policy and performance aspects. The university’s dedication to eco-friendly practices includes recycling percentages and CO2 emission levels. Moreover, ARU has been recognized as one of the most upwardly mobile universities globally, securing a spot in the top 20 “rising stars” in global higher education.
This prestigious list, compiled by Higher Education strategy consultants Firetail and published by Times Higher Education, positions Anglia Ruskin as the sole UK university among the top 20, with the rest distributed across the United States, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Germany, and Finland.
Anglia Ruskin University extends valuable financial incentives to its international student community, encouraging early payment of tuition fees. A noteworthy discount of £1,000 is available to international students embarking on full-time undergraduate or postgraduate courses. This initiative aims to support and acknowledge the commitment of students pursuing higher education. Additionally, a £400 discount is extended to current undergraduate students returning for their second (Level 5) or third (Level 6) year at ARU.
It’s important to note that this discount cannot be combined with the school’s International Alumni Scholarship or MBA Bursary and does not apply to students applying to ARU College. This financial support exemplifies Anglia Ruskin University’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment, making higher education more accessible to students from diverse backgrounds.
