Edinburgh Napier University is giving Lawrence Ho Scholarships for the academic year 2023–2024 to recognize academically gifted individuals who merit it.
Candidates from China and Hong Kong may apply for the bursary to study a master’s degree program at Edinburgh Napier University. Its Scottish Gaelic name, Oilthigh Napier Dhùn ideann, refers to Edinburgh Napier University as a public institution of higher learning. The university’s forerunner, Napier Technical College, was established in 1964 and was given John Napier’s name, a Scottish mathematician and philosopher who lived in the sixteenth century. In 1992, Lord Douglas-Hamilton established Napier University out of the technical college. Edinburgh Napier University is now the name of the institution.
Merchiston, Craiglockhart, and Sighthill are the university’s three primary campuses in Edinburgh. It has more than 19,500 students, including those studying on campus in Scotland, overseas, and online through transnational programs. The 2020 National Student Survey placed Edinburgh Napier as the best institution for student happiness in Edinburgh, while the Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide named Edinburgh Napier as the top contemporary university in Scotland.
The institution was ranked first in the UK for delivering value to students in The Guardian Institution Guide 2017. This score is determined by following students from the time they enroll to the time they graduate and comparing their final degree award with their entry-level qualifications. For its achievements in timber engineering, sustainable building, and wood science, Edinburgh Napier University is a nationally and globally recognized institution that has twice been honored with the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education (in 2009 and 2015).
Lawrence Ho Scholarships- Benefits
Successful applicants will get a £1,500 grant to go toward their college expenses.
Eligibility
- Eligible Countries: Lawrence Ho Scholarships are available to students from China and Hong Kong.
- Acceptable Subjects or Courses: You may pursue a postgraduate degree in any field the university offers.
- Acceptable Standards: You must be from Hong Kong or China and have a solid postgraduate offer—either conditional or unconditional—from Edinburgh Napier University to qualify for the Lawrence Ho Scholarships. You have paid your deposit toward your fees and meet the following requirements:
- earned at least a 2:2 in a UK honors program, a lower second-class in a Hong Kong honors program, or
- a 75% in a Chinese Benke program
