Eligibility Criteria for McGill University MasterCard Foundation Scholarships
Candidates are advised to meet the following requirements to be eligible for McGill University MasterCard Foundation Scholarships:
- Admissibility: You must be admitted to one of the eligible programs at McGill University. A list of eligible programs can be found below.
- Graduate Studies: You should have never completed any graduate studies before applying for this scholarship.
- Nomination: You can be nominated for this scholarship in one of two ways:
- Nominated by a professor from a recognized Mastercard Foundation Partner University.
- Nominated by a current McGill Professor or Staff Member. (Refer to the Nomination Form for details)
- Citizenship and Residence: You must be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African Country and have lived a significant part of your life in one of these countries. (Refer to the List of Eligible Countries for details)
- Record of Service and Activity: Applicants are expected to have an exceptional record of service and activity within their school and/or community.
- Intent to Return: You must have the intent to return to your country immediately upon completing your degree. Your goal should be to contribute to the transformation of your community through social and economic development.
- Financial Status: You must demonstrate that your financial status falls within the lowest two quintiles of your country.
Application Procedure for McGill University MasterCard Foundation Scholarships
To apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at McGill University, follow these steps:
Step 1: Start Your McGill Graduate Application
Begin by initiating your application to the McGill University Graduate Application. You can typically do this through the McGill University Graduate Admissions website.
Step 2: Do Not Pay the Application Fee
While completing your application for graduate programs, do not proceed with the payment of the application fee at this stage. Instead, focus on completing all other components of your application.
Step 3: Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application
Separate from the standard graduate application, complete the specific Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application form. This form is designed to pre-screen your application for academic and scholarship eligibility. Only applications that meet the minimum eligibility requirements will be considered for the scholarship.
Step 4: Submit Your Applications
Ensure you submit both your graduate program application and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application by their respective deadlines. This is a crucial step to be considered for the scholarship.
