Candidates who receive the China Scholarship Council’s support will benefit from a living stipend and assistance as determined by the Chinese Government, with comprehensive details available on the China Scholarship Council website. In conjunction with this, the University of Adelaide extends the Adelaide University China Fee Scholarship. This scholarship encompasses a 100% Tuition Fee Waiver for a period of up to 48 months, contingent upon the maintenance of satisfactory academic progress. The duration aligns with the support offered by the China Scholarship Council.

In certain exceptional cases, the University of Adelaide may additionally provide a top-up scholarship to exceptionally promising candidates, further enhancing the opportunities available to those pursuing their Doctor of Philosophy at the university. Eligibility Criteria for China Fee Scholarships 

Applications for Adelaide University China Fee Scholarships (AUCFS) will only be accepted from candidates who satisfy the requirements of the University of Adelaide as well as the China Scholarship Council.

According to the China Scholarship Council, candidates must:

  • At the time of application, nationals or lawful permanent residents of the People’s Republic of China;
  • Are between the ages of 18 and 40 when they apply;
  • At the time of application, are you a recent graduate from your university, a master’s degree candidate, or a first-year PhD student?
  • Consent to return to China after completing their research and/or studies; and Meet any other requirements for selection as specified by the China Scholarship Council. You may find a comprehensive list online: http://apply.csc.edu.cn/.

The University of Adelaide requires that candidates:

  • Hold a firm offer of enrollment* from the University of Adelaide, contingent on the applicant’s application for a China Scholarship Council award being approved.

*Applicants must fulfill the University of Adelaide’s minimal English Language Proficiency requirements before the application deadline to be directly admitted into their selected academic program. Pre-enrollment English programs are not open to applicants for this prize.

Application Process for China Fee Scholarships

Step 1 is to communicate with a supervisor and obtain written confirmation from a main supervisor who qualifies as having supervisory assistance. Step 2: Use the University of Adelaide’s online application system (www.adelaide.edu.au/graduatecentre/future-students/how-to-apply) to apply for admission and an Adelaide University China Fee Scholarship.

Scholarships for Adelaide University China Fee are given out competitively based on a combination of academic standing, research background, and connection with the strategic objectives of the University of Adelaide. 

Step 3: Use apply.csc.edu.cn/ to apply to the China Scholarship Council* for a living stipend and assistance applicants must have applied to the CSC after receiving an offer of admission and an offer for an Adelaide University China Fee Scholarship.

The China Scholarship Council receives nominations from the University of Adelaide on a shortlist of recipients of the Adelaide University China Fee Scholarship. A candidate may retain the stipend but will be required to pay 100% of their tuition costs if they apply to the China Scholarship Council successfully but do not get an offer for an Adelaide University China Fee Scholarship.
