The University of Edinburgh Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship for Africa in the UK for 2023/2024

University of Edinburgh 2023–2024 Applications for Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarships are now being accepted.

The Nyerere Scholarship for a candidate for the MSc in Africa and International Development is being offered with great excitement by the Centre of African Studies. Talented Tanzanian students can pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh by applying for the Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship, which offers financial support. A student from Tanzania will receive a one-year postgraduate scholarship from the Centre for African Studies thanks to the kind donation of a donor to study in the Center for African Studies’ Masters-level program.

Worth of Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship

  • The Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship will pay for tuition fees as well as a yearly stipend, which will be advised and will be equivalent to £13,500 in 2022–2023.
  • The annual stipend will be distributed in quarterly installments following full matriculation. Payments are due in September and December 2023, as well as in March and June 2024.

Eligibility

  • The funding will go to a Tanzanian applicant who is accepted into the full-time MSc program in African and International Development.
  • The equivalent of a first-class or 2.1 honors undergraduate degree in the humanities or social sciences from the United Kingdom is required of candidates, or they must be expecting to obtain it.

Interview Date, Process, and Venue for Scholarship

The Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship applications will be examined by the CAS Selection Panel at a June meeting. In June 2023, the results will be communicated to every applicant for a scholarship.

Academic excellence will be considered in the scholarship decision. The equivalent of a first-class or 2.1 honors college degree in a humanities or social science field is required of candidates, or they must anticipate obtaining it.

Those interested in applying must first apply for admission to the full-time MSc African and International Development program to access the scholarship application portal. Please be aware that it may take up to five working days after applying for admission for access to be granted after all system checks have been completed. To ensure that you have access to the scholarship application form before it closes, we ask that you submit your MSc application at least five working days before the scholarship deadline.

Application process:

  • Send in your application materials, including a personal statement, a declaration of talents, and references, for the MSc program.
  • Use the scholarship application portal to submit your scholarship application. To do this, you must explain what Nyerere’s legacy means to you and how it relates to your aspirations for the future.

References provided to the program for Africa and International Development will be considered while evaluating your scholarship application. Please make sure to include these by the scholarship deadline on your application.

The Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship funds, kindly note. Flight and visa application fees are not covered by this grant.
