About the University of Technology Sydney and Scholarship
NSWIT was granted university status on October 8, 1987, which was followed by the passage of the University of Technology, Sydney, Act 1987. On January 26, 1988, it was renamed the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), with the inclusion of the old Sydney College of the Arts School of Design. The University of Technology, Sydney, Act 1989 (NSW) established UTS in 1989 by combining the Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education (KCAE) with the Sydney College of Advanced Education’s Institute of Technical and Adult Teacher Education (ITATE). By 1991, a nine-faculty and 25-school academic system had been formed.
On the southern edge of Sydney’s central business district, between Central Station and Railway Square, is where you’ll find the UTS City campus. The centerpiece of the city campus is the UTS Tower, which faces Broadway. There are five distinct precincts on the campus. Broadway, Haymarket, and Blackfriars are part of the city campus, and Moore Park and Botany precincts link specialized facilities to surrounding industrial businesses.
The faculties of Science, Health, Law, Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering and IT, Design, Architecture and Building, and the UTS Library are located on Broadway (in Ultimo). Haymarket is home to the Business School, UTS Startups, the UTS Animal Logic Academy, and two lecture halls in the Powerhouse Museum. While sporting facilities are housed at the Rugby Australia Building in the Moore Park neighborhood and the UTS Tech Lab is located in Botany, the Blackfriars Children’s Centre and research and innovation teams are situated in Chippendale.
Since 2008, the campus has seen considerable changes thanks to the City Campus Master Plan, a $1 billion-plus investment in new structures and amenities, significant upgrades, and renovations. Graduates from UTS were placed 62nd globally and fifth most employable in Australia in the 2022 QS Graduate Employability Rankings.
The Postgraduate Business Alumni Scholarship was established to support a student financially in continuing their education and to encourage a graduate certificate student at the UTS Business School to enroll in a master’s program.

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Business Alumni Scholarship
Applicants are advised to meet the following requirements to be qualified for the Postgraduate Business Alumni Scholarship at the University of Technology Sydney:
- Possess an Australian permanent resident or permanent humanitarian visa, or be an Australian or New Zealand citizen.
- Enrolled in or been accepted for a Masters-level program at the UTS Business School in the session immediately following the completion of a Graduate Certificate program.
- Students who begin the Masters program in the Spring session must obtain a minimum Pass average (WAM 50+) to be considered for the scholarship the following Autumn session.
- Significant job experience was a requirement for enrollment in the UTS Graduate Certificate program. Please be aware that undergraduates who have already earned their degrees are not eligible.
- No application is necessary since the Selection Committee will recognize eligible applicants.
Note: Academic merit, is determined by the graduate certificate student with the highest WAM in the year before the award was given.
