In Oxford, England, there is a coeducational research institution called the University of Oxford. With evidence of instruction dating back to 1096, it is the second-oldest institution currently in operation and the oldest university in the English-speaking world. It encourages Oxford University’s multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary study of the Islamic world. Beyond Oxford, a vast network of intellectual connections enhances its capacity.

Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarships – Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are advised to meet the following conditions to be qualified for Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarships at the University Of Oxford:
- You must be requesting admission to Oxford for a brand-new, full-time master’s or DPhil program.
- You either need to be:
- normally living in the United Kingdom, being a member of the Muslim community (with emphasis being given to individuals from low-income families), or
- a citizen of, and usually residing in, one of the following Asian or African nations
- You should have the intention of finishing your degree and then returning to your country of permanent residency.
- The distribution of scholarships will be determined on academic merit.
- You should have the intention of pursuing a degree in a subject with ties to the Islamic tradition or that has application to and/or benefits for the Muslim community.
- Candidates who have accepted delayed offers to begin in 2021–2022, however, are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Application Procedure for Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarships
- On the graduate application form for the university, check the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarship box under the University of Oxford Scholarships heading;
- By the applicable December/January deadline, submit your graduate school application. To find the due date for your course, visit the relevant course page; and
- By the deadline, submit your graduate application form together with a completed Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholarships Supporting Statement (see relevant materials on this page).
They will evaluate your nationality and country of residence based on the information you provide on the graduate application form. Please refer to the graduate application form’s ‘Nationality and ordinary residence’ part and the guidance provided in the Application Guide for a definition of “ordinary residence” as well as more information on how to complete this area.
Applicants must successfully receive an offer of a spot on their program once applications submitted by the pertinent December/January deadline have been taken into account. Scholarships will not be considered for course applications that are placed on a waiting list, are held over after the December/January deadline, or are reevaluated against applications submitted by the March deadline.
