University of Leeds Psychology International Excellence Scholarships in the UK for 2022/2023

The Psychology International Excellence Scholarships are an automatic scholarship awarded to undergraduate applicants who achieve AAA or above at A level (or equivalent) and will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

The University of Leeds is a public research university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science.

In 1884, the university joined the Leeds School of Medicine (established in 1831) and was renamed Yorkshire College. The University of Leeds became part of the federal Victoria University in 1887, joining Owens College (which became the University of Manchester) and University College Liverpool (which became the University of Liverpool).

The University of Leeds was rated joint 19th (along with the University of St Andrews) amongst multi-faculty institutions in the UK for the quality (GPA) of its research, and 10th for its Research Power in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.

Between 2014-15, the university was rated as the 10th most targeted British university by graduate employers, a two-place decrease from the 8th position in the previous 2014 rankings.

In 2021 the Times Higher Education World University Rankings rated Leeds as 153rd in the world. The University of Leeds ranks 84th in the world in the CWTS Leiden Ranking.

The University of Leeds is rated 91st in the world (and 15th in the UK) in the 2021 QS World University Rankings. The university has also been named University of the Year 2017 by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide. 

In 2019, the university was rated 150th among the universities around the world by SCImago Institutions Rankings. The University of Leeds won the biennially awarded Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2009 for services to engineering and technology. 

The honor is awarded to the university’s Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) which for over forty years has been a world leader in transport teaching and research.

The University of Leeds is a founding member of the Russell Group, including the leading research-intensive universities in the UK, as well as the N8 Group for research collaboration, the Worldwide Universities Network, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, the White Rose University Consortium, the Santander Network, and the CDIO Initiative.

Eligibility for University of Leeds Psychology International Excellence Scholarships

To be qualified for Psychology International Excellence Scholarships, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Students achieving AAA or above at A level (or equivalent) will be assessed for the scholarship.
  • Self-funding students who complete the University of Leeds International Foundation Year will also be qualified.
