About Flinders University and Scholarship
Flinders University, a distinguished public research institution located in Adelaide, South Australia, boasts a widespread presence with 11 locations spanning South Australia and the Northern Territory. Established in 1966, the university carries the name of the renowned British navigator Matthew Flinders, celebrated for his exploration and surveying of the Australian and South Australian coastline during the early 19th century.
Situated on 156 acres of lush gardens and native bushland, Flinders University’s main campus at Bedford Park, in Adelaide’s southern region, offers a picturesque and verdant academic environment.
The RA Simpson International Scholarship, a testament to the university’s commitment to global perspectives in education, has been made possible through a generous endowment from the family of the late Mr. Robert Allen Simpson. Mr. Simpson, a founding member of the Flinders University Council and an honorary degree recipient, played a significant role in the university’s establishment.
The primary objective of the RA Simpson International Scholarship is to support students in undertaking a portion of their academic program abroad. By doing so, the scholarship aims to enrich the students’ Flinders University experience by providing them with valuable international exposure and perspectives. This initiative reflects Flinders University’s dedication to fostering a well-rounded and globally aware academic community.
