The UTS Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship was developed to entice excellent achievers from underprivileged backgrounds to enroll in UTS undergraduate programs.

Eligibility Criteria for UTS Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship
Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the UTS Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship at the University of Technology Sydney:
- Having obtained a UTS undergraduate degree offer through UAC;
- Being a citizen of Australia or New Zealand;
- Possessing a permanent humanitarian visa or an Australian permanent resident visa;
- Having plans to enroll full-time in a UTS undergraduate degree, which would be their first undergraduate degree, and being a recent school leaver, a gap year student who graduated in the previous year, or a student who completed their tertiary education without any gap-year study;
- Demonstrating academic excellence in the final examination.
Selection Criteria
- Financial disadvantage that has been shown (via the application for the UAC Equity Scholarship or the Educational Access Scheme)
- academic achievement at the year 12 level, rated by ATAR but without bonus points.
- At the time of selection, the first UAC choice to a UTS undergraduate study will be highly valued.
- Candidates who submitted their applications using the UTS Elite School Leaver’s Scholarships Application form, which is optional, will be given preference.
- as proven in the Scholarship application or as assessed by UTS, a desire to excel in the chosen degree program
- Personal and professional initiative, as shown in the Scholarship application or as evaluated by UTS
These scholarships are automatically given out after the December announcement of the ATAR results, however, to qualify, you must be enrolling as a local student and have a preference for a study at the University of Technology Sydney on your UAC application.
Application Procedure for UTS Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship
These scholarships are automatically given out after the January announcement of the ATAR results, however, to qualify, you must be enrolling as a local student and have a preference for a study at the University of Technology Sydney on your UAC application. The Elite School Leaver Scholarship Application Form allows you to fill out the optional application form online.
Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship – Equity Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, you must apply (or make a claim) to Centrelink for the Youth Allowance/Abstudy or any other applicable Centrelink benefit. Only applicants who can prove serious financial hardship with supporting paperwork or who are getting a Centrelink means-tested income assistance payment will be taken into account.
Steps to complete a UAC Equity Scholarship application:
- Through Centrelink, click “Register” to apply for a means-tested income support payment (such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, or Abstudy). You will receive a unique Centrelink Reference Number (CRN) from Centrelink.
- Please use your Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN) to apply for a UAC Equity Scholarship. Visit uac.edu.au/equity/ to apply.
- Once you learn that your benefit has been accepted, you must revise your UAC Equity Scholarship application if your Centrelink claim wasn’t approved when you applied. Ask them to amend your 2023–2024 UAC Equity Scholarship application;
- You have until the deadline to submit or change your information on the UAC website.
