ACSPRI Fellowship Program at the University of Queensland, Australia 2023

Application is now open for the ACSPRI Fellowship Program at the University of Queensland. Interested applicants are encouraged to send their applications in before the deadline date.

About the University of Queensland and Scholarship

Research in science, health, and technology is a priority at the University of Queensland. A significant advance in the university’s research was made with the creation of the cervical cancer vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix by UQ Professor Ian Frazer. UQ has emerged as a world leader in several cancer research sectors, according to a 2009 review by the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

More UQ researchers are working in research fields that ERA has evaluated as above world standard than at any other Australian university, according to the Commonwealth Government’s Excellence in Research for Australia 2012 National Report. UQ’s research is rated above the world standard in 22 broad fields, more than any other Australian university. UQ research was assessed as being five times better than that of the rest of the world in the areas of biomedical and clinical health sciences, technology, engineering, biological, chemical, environmental, and physical sciences.

In 2015, UQ was identified by Nature Index as the research university in the southern hemisphere with the largest volume of research production in the transdisciplinary journals Nature and Science, with around two times as much output as the worldwide average. In its list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2020, Clarivate included 34 UQ professors.

In addition to the academic faculties’ disciplinary-focused teaching and research, the university also supports a variety of multidisciplinary research institutes and centers at the national, state, and university levels. For instance, the Institute of Modern Languages, the University of Queensland Seismology Station, the Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, and Heron Island Research Station.

Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners, Queensland’s first academic health science system, heavily relies on the University of Queensland. The current participants in this collaboration are Children’s Health Queensland, Mater Health Services, Metro North Hospital and Health Service, Metro South Health, QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Queensland University of Technology, The University of Queensland, and the Translational Research Institute.

The $25,000 fellowship will give Ph.D. students chances for professional growth and direct financial support to help them reach their career objectives.
