It offers financial assistance to foreign law graduates who seek to study at Aberdeen as well as to students and alumni of the University of Aberdeen who wish to travel abroad for research.

About the University of Aberdeen

The University of Aberdeen, also known as the University o’ ‘Aiberdeen or Oilthigh Obar Dheathain in Scottish Gaelic, is a public research university in Aberdeen, Scotland. King’s College was one of Scotland’s four ancient universities and the fifth-oldest university in the English-speaking world when it was founded in 1495 as a result of a request made to Pope Alexander VI by William Elphinstone, Bishop of Aberdeen and Chancellor of Scotland, on behalf of James IV, King of Scots. The institution participated in the Scottish Enlightenment of the 18th century alongside the universities of St Andrews, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

King’s College, Marischal College, and Christ’s College are the three mostly ceremonial colleges that make up the university. King’s College and Marischal College, a second institution founded in 1593 as a Protestant rival to the first, were combined to become the university as it is known today in 1860. Particularly Marischal College in the city center and the crown spire of King’s College in Old Aberdeen, the university’s prominent structures serve as icons for all of Aberdeen.

According to The Guardian, Aberdeen is routinely listed among the top 200 universities in the world and is among the top 20 institutions in the United Kingdom. Aberdeen was placed 31st in the world for social effect in the 2019 Times Higher Education University effect Rankings. The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide also selected Aberdeen the Scottish University of the Year for 2019 in their publication. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, the university’s research received a classification of “world-leading” or “internationally excellent” for more than 75% of its output.
