About the University of Queensland and Scholarship
The public research university known as the University of Queensland (UQ) is located in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. The University of Queensland is the oldest in each state. It was established in 1909 by the Queensland government and is one of the six sandstone institutions of higher learning. The top Group of Eight in Australia, edX, and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, which does major global research, are both organizations that UQ founded.
The primary St. Lucia campus makes up the majority of the riverside inner suburb of St. Lucia, which is located southwest of Brisbane’s central business area. The Gatton campus and the Mayne Medical School are the largest of the several UQ sites and facilities located in Queensland. UQ has campuses outside of Australia at the UQ-Ochsner Clinical School in Louisiana, the United States, and the UQ North America headquarters in Washington, D.C.
UQ was ranked as the 42nd-best university in the world in 2022 by the UNSW-published Aggregate Rankings of Top Universities, which consider performance across QS, THE, and ARWU. In several fields of engineering, the university is highly regarded. It ranks third in the world in terms of mining and minerals engineering. It is rated 76-100th, 76-100th, and 101-150th, respectively, in chemical engineering, civil engineering, material science and engineering, and electrical and electronic engineering. Research in the fields of science, medicine, and technology is highly valued in Queensland.
One example of the university’s scientific accomplishment is the development of the cervical cancer vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix by UQ Professor Ian Frazer. UQ has assumed the lead in several critical areas of cancer research, according to a 2009 assessment by the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
The Constantine Aspromourgos Memorial Scholarship for Greek Studies was created in Constantine Aspromourgos’s honor in 1994 and is supported by a fund given by his wife, Patricia Phyllis Aspromourgos.

Eligibility Criteria for Constantine Aspromourgos Memorial Scholarship for Greek Studies
Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Constantine Aspromourgos Memorial Scholarship for Greek Studies at the University of Queensland:
- possess a master’s or bachelor’s degree;
- apply before the deadline; and
Either:
- are engaged in postgraduate study in at least one field of Greek studies (ancient, Byzantine, or contemporary) in
- society
- religion
- economics
- politics
- language
- culture
- literature
- history
- archaeology
- geography (a Greek studies program); or
- a UQ graduate enrolling in a Greek studies degree at a different university that the committee approves of.

The school will consider:
- the caliber of your academic performance to date
- appropriateness of the proposed scheme.

What Next
The scholarship office will email you to let you know when they have received your application. Email them at scholarships@hass.uq.edu.au if you have not heard from them within two days of applying. They will forward your application to a selection panel for assessment if they determine that you are qualified. If you’re successful, they will notify you in writing.
