City, University of London, is a prominent public research university located in the heart of London, United Kingdom. It has a rich history and has evolved through various stages. The university traces its origins back to 1894 when it was established as the Northampton Institute. In 1966, it received the status of a university and was named The City University.
City University’s oldest constituent part is the Inns of Court School of Law, which dates back to 1852. It later merged with City in 2001. On September 1, 2016, City University became a member institution of the Federal University of London. This means it is part of a network of eighteen colleges and ten research institutes that make up the University of London.
The City is a founding member of the WC2 University Network, an alliance of leading universities in major world cities. This network promotes collaboration to address common cultural, environmental, and political issues. City is a member of several academic associations, including the Association of MBAs (AMBA), EQUIS, and Universities UK. Originally known as the City University Business School, it was founded in 1966 and evolved to become Cass Business School after a donation from the Sir John Cass Foundation. Cass Business School specializes in various business-related programs, including MBA degrees.
In 2021, Cass Business School was renamed Bayes Business School, paying homage to Thomas Bayes, a renowned theologian and mathematician known for his groundbreaking work on conditional probability. This renaming was in response to concerns about John Cass’s historical connections to slavery. City University’s main campus is situated at Northampton Square in Islington, London, and it has other buildings throughout the city. The university has a rich history and plays a significant role in the academic landscape of London and beyond.
Bayes Business School is excited to introduce the Global Women’s Leadership Programme, an innovative initiative with a core mission to attract and empower the next generation of women leaders. This transformative partnership is designed to identify and support an outstanding MBA scholar who demonstrates remarkable potential in the realm of global women’s leadership development. The selected scholarship recipient will be chosen from among the Bayes MBA programs based in London.
In this pioneering initiative, the scholarship recipient will take on a prominent leadership role within their respective MBA program. This role will provide a platform for them to hone their leadership skills and put theory into practice by spearheading a range of dynamic leadership development events. These events will encompass a wide spectrum, including Rising Women Leaders Development Workshops specially crafted for MBA students and Women’s Executive Leadership Forums aimed at both alumni and corporate partners.
What sets the Global Women’s Leadership Programme apart is its truly global reach. The planned events and activities will span across major international hubs, including London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Beijing, and New York. This extended geographic footprint underscores the program’s commitment to making a significant impact on a global scale, ensuring that talented women leaders receive the support, resources, and opportunities they need to flourish in the world of business and leadership.
