About Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Scholarship

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, KAS) is a political party foundation in Germany that is connected to the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) but operates independently of it. The headquarters of the foundation are situated in Berlin and Sankt Augustin, which is close to Bonn. The KAS operates programs in more than 100 countries and has 78 offices worldwide. Norbert Lammert, a former head of the German parliament’s Deutscher Bundestag, serves as its current chairman. It is a part of the European People’s Party’s official foundation and think tank, the Martens Centre (EPP). It was the fifteenth-ranked think tank in the world in 2020.

The foundation’s official website states that the goal of its civic education programs is to “further European unification, improve transatlantic relations, and deepen development cooperation” to “promote freedom and liberty, peace, and justice.” By researching and analyzing contemporary political trends, their role as a think-tank and consulting organization aims to give citizens a foundation for political action. In addition to providing more than 2,500 conferences and events annually throughout the world, the KAS actively promotes intellectually gifted youth’s political engagement and education through both an ongoing, extensive seminar program and a prestigious scholarship program.
