About Imperial College London and Scholarship
London, England’s Imperial College London is a public research institution frequently referred to simply as Imperial. Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, is credited with creating it. He had a vision for a cultural district that would include the Royal Albert Hall, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, and many royal colleges. By royal license, the Royal College of Science, the Royal School of Mines, and the City and Guilds of London Institute were combined to become Imperial College London in 1907. St Mary’s Hospital Medical School and Imperial College School of Medicine merged to establish the latter in 1988. King Elizabeth II inaugurated the Imperial College Business School in 2004.
