About the University Of Notre Dame and Scholarship

The University of Notre Dame du Lac (/notrdem/ NOH-tr-DAYM; ND) is a private Catholic research institution located in Notre Dame, Indiana, just north of South Bend. In 1842, French priest Edward Sorin established the institution. The main campus is located in a suburban environment and spans 1,261 acres (510 hectares), including monuments such as the Golden Dome, the Word of Life painting, Notre Dame Stadium, and the Basilica. Originally intended for males, the university began allowing undergraduate female students in 1972.

Notre Dame is regarded as one of the best colleges in the country. The university is divided into seven colleges and schools. Peace research For research and classroom work, Ph.D. students select one of the following disciplines: anthropology, history, political science, psychology, sociology, or theology. The peace studies curriculum is blended with traditional humanities and social science fields to produce a unique framework of study for each student. Students can also take advantage of several research opportunities at the Institute and around Notre Dame.

Eligibility Criteria for Peace Studies PhD Scholarship

To be eligible for admission to a graduate program at the University of Notre Dame, candidates must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an authorized university, whether domestically or abroad. Furthermore, it is expected that candidates would have relevant training or prior research experience in the joint area to which they are applying. Except for Peace Studies and Theology, where a master’s degree in theology is required, previous graduate study is not necessary. Consider the Master of Global Affairs in International Peace Studies program if you’re thinking about getting a master’s degree in peace studies.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  • Unofficial transcripts from prior institutions or in-progress degrees;
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score – General Test required for all areas except Anthropology and Psychology (Fall 2023 cycle);
  • TOEFL or IELTS score for international applicants only.

  • Writing sample;
  • Names and contact information for three recommenders.

Application Process for Peace Studies PhD Scholarship

Your areas of interest and experience should be described in the statement of purpose (maximum 1,000 words), which should also include a list of the academic members you want to work with. Both the Kroc Institute Doctoral Admissions Committee and a committee or faculty representative from the joint department will review the statement. In your statement, please include both your interest in peace studies and the field of study of the partner department.

The writing sample must be original to you and should highlight your abilities in analysis, writing, and peace research. It ought to be your finest piece of academic writing. Please provide an abstract of no more than 250 words that summarizes the entire work and its thesis if you are sending a portion of a lengthier work (such as a senior or master’s thesis). English should be used in writing samples.

The Graduate School Application for Admission must be submitted electronically by all applicants. No paper documents will be considered for consideration; all necessary materials must be submitted to the application.
