About Radboud University and Scholarship

In Nijmegen, the Netherlands, there is a public research university called Radboud University (abbreviated as RU; Dutch: Radboud Universiteit, originally Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen). Saint Radboud, a 9th-century Dutch bishop renowned for his learning and assistance to the poor, is the namesake of the institution.

The mission of Radboud University is to promote equality of opportunity for all people in a free and healthy world. Realizing a varied and welcoming campus for all of the students and employees is significant to them. Several full scholarships are available to enable all deserving students to join the academic community, including non-EU/EEA students who may find it difficult to afford the institutional tuition cost at Radboud University.

Benefits:

Applications from non-EU/EEA nations who wish to enroll in one of the school’s English-taught Master’s degree programs may be eligible for the Radboud Encouragement Scholarship (excluding Erasmus Mundus Master’s programs and joint-degree Master’s programs). Throughout the Master’s program, the scholarship pays the entire living expenses of €11,220 (as determined by the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service, or IND) in addition to the tuition fees.

There are sixteen scholarships available for 2023–2024: two from Nijmegen School of Management, one each from the faculties of arts, law, and medical sciences; two from the faculty of philosophy, theology, and religious studies; two each from the faculties of science and social sciences.

Eligibility Criteria for Radboud Encouragement Scholarship

Applicants are advised to meet the following prerequisites to be eligible for the Radboud Encouragement Scholarship at Radboud University:

  • possess a non-EU/non-EEA passport;
  • are not qualified for any other reason to receive the reduced EEA tuition;
  • lack the resources, access to grants, or loans necessary to pay for your education at Radboud University;
  • possess (or want to gain) a bachelor’s degree earned outside of the Netherlands, have no degrees from the Netherlands, and have never attended school there before (exchange programs excluded, as long as they are a component of the bachelor’s degree earned outside of the Netherlands);
  • fulfill the English language competency prerequisite for your preferred Master’s program;
  • been accepted in full to the Master’s program offered in English beginning on September 1;
  • are capable of meeting the requirements to get a Netherlands visa;
  • are registered full-time at Radboud University’s Master’s program and the academic year in which the scholarship is to be given.

Application Procedure for Radboud Encouragement Scholarship

You can apply by stating in the OSIRIS Application system that you would want to apply for a Radboud Encouragement Scholarship at the time you apply for admission to a master’s degree. After that, you will need to post the scholarship motivation letter, two reference letters, and a curriculum vitae (you can upload the same materials if you have already supplied them for your application to a master’s program).

Enrollment in the Master’s program does not guarantee scholarship selection, and the scholarship selection procedure is distinct from the admissions process.

It should be noted that recipients of the Radboud Encouragement Scholarship are not inherently exempt from paying the master’s application processing fee. You will get a refund of the handling charge after you enroll at Radboud University. You can visit the official website for further details.

The Submission Deadline

At the latest, on January 31, 2024, 23:59 CEST, you must have filed your application using the online OSIRIS Application system. After being reviewed by the Radboud University Student Admissions office, your OSIRIS Application will be returned to you along with an invoice for the processing charge and any missing or inaccurate papers. You must submit your application again right away. Then, your application must be finished by no later than February 14, 2024, at 23:59 CEST. Please be aware that applications that are not complete will not be taken into consideration for the Radboud Scholarship.

The school advises you to submit your documentation of your English language ability before the deadline of February 14, 2024. The Department of Student Life and International Mobility will notify you by mid-April 2024 (date subject to change) of the final decision about your Radboud Scholarship application.
