About the University of Sussex and Scholarship

In Falmer, East Sussex, England, the University of Sussex is a public institution with a research emphasis. Most of it is included within the administrative boundaries of Brighton and Hove. The South Downs National Park flanks its wide campus and provides easy access to Brighton’s city center, which is only 5.5 kilometers (3.4 miles) away. The school received its Royal Charter in August 1961, making it the first of the generation of universities made of plate glass.

More than one-third of its students are enrolled in postgraduate programs, while just under one-third of its staff members are foreign-born. The diverse community of over 20,000 students at Sussex includes more than 1,000 academics from more than 140 different countries, with about one-third being foreign students.

There are several research partnerships between Sussex and other higher education institutions, as well as international governmental and non-governmental organizations and institutes. For instance, the Harvard Sussex program is a well-established academic partnership between the universities of Sussex and Harvard that focuses on public policy regarding chemical and biological weapons. The HSP issues a quarterly publication called the CBW Conventions Bulletin. Recent examples include the Sussex-Lund Partnership in Middle Eastern and North African Studies, the Sussex-Cornell Partnership, and the Sussex-Bocconi-Renmin Intrapreneurship Hub. The Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts is also coordinated by Sussex. One of the eight universities in the Tyndall Center network is Sussex.

Since 2003, the Sports Scholarship Scheme has assisted students in realizing their athletic potential, with results including Olympic competition, national championships, and gold in BUCS competitions. If you’re a gifted student athlete, the school offers extensive Sports Scholarships that give a network of support, financial aid, and the chance to get mentoring from elite athletes to help you grow as a sportsperson and student.
